While counting down to the Race Day is essentially muscle memory for the experienced runners; for beginners, preparation is everything. It’s what decides how comfortable an experience you’ll have while running on the main day. And how successful too. Irrespective of your goal!

Follow these simple steps, to make your marathon run a breeze. Let’s get started.

Check-up to level up

Before taking on a training regimen and putting new physical demands on your body, it is wise to visit your doctor for a regular check up, so that any underlying issues can be picked up on in advance.

Get good gear

Invest in a good, comfy pair of running shoes — you’ll be glad you did. And be sure to break them in as you train. There’s loads of active wear to choose from, stuff that’ll keep you sweat-free and flying along the track. Choose a trusted Fitness Tracker device and ensure it has all your information to record correctly on race day.

Set small goals

Long walks and short practice runs are a great first target to achieve, from which you can slowly build your stamina and pace. And that’s not all, you can practice other forms of exercise like stretches, yoga, dance, the gym too. Start with just a few days a week, giving your body enough time to recover in between sessions.

Pick up the Pace

Practice interval training, alternating between runs and walks. Increase your distance, remember that endurance is key, more so than speed. You’ll notice it gets easier as the days progress, for with practice you are simply getting better.

Monitor Your Progress

Keep an eye on your progress through health or fitness apps, during the course of training. You can also watch over your dietary needs during this phase, in the build-up to the race. After all, nutrition is key to your body staying fit.

Rest & Recovery

You can’t train for the marathon without giving your body plenty of rest and recuperation. It is only when the body rests, does it get the opportunity to go again. And that’s just the mentality needed to take on the experience of DRGM World.

Care for yourself as you build up to the marathon, and on the day, your body will do just the same, to get you smiling across the finish line.
